Welcome to the Team- Dan Chivers

We’re delighted to welcome Dan Chivers to BrokerCentral as our newest Junior Software Developer.

Dan’s route into software development hasn’t been a typical one. Five years ago, he was beginning a career as a car mechanic with Volvo, something he’s always been passionate about. While he enjoyed the work, Dan realised it wasn’t the long-term path for him. With technology being one of his longest-standing interests, he made the decision to return to university to study Computer Science and pursue a career in software development.

Dan was drawn to BrokerCentral by the team culture, in particular. The friendly, approachable environment and lack of corporate jargon stood out, along with the opportunity to work in a close-knit team where he can see his contributions making a real, tangible difference.

In his new role, Dan is excited to get to grips with Laravel and to explore how a large, production-level codebase is structured. He’s also keen to build his skills in areas he hasn’t yet had much exposure to. As a junior developer, Dan knows that one of his biggest challenges will be getting up to speed, but he’s confident this will come with time, experience, and asking plenty of questions!

Outside of work, Dan loves staying active through weightlifting and cardio, travelling when he can, playing snooker, and, unsurprisingly, he’s still very much into cars.

“Dan’s determination to successfully change careers is something I really admire,” says Nick Jordan, Managing Director. “It’s exciting to watch him learn and grow with the team, and we’re looking forward to supporting him as he continues to develop his skills and confidence.”
